Today's events, and my poem!
Well today certainly has been a day! After English class, I headed out for the Mexican restaurant that is oh so amazing, had some kick ass food, then started on my way home. Not even half way, I was blasting Nightwish when I noticed my truck wasn't driving as it should. I figured, piece of crap is screwing up again! Still with my music blasting so loud I'd have been lucky to hear an atomic bomb go off, I down shifted and tried to figure out what the deal was....why my truck didn't seem to want to go the way I was trying to push it to go. That's when I had a moment of genius and turned my music down, and that's when I heard the loud noise I should have been hearing all along (with the music at a reasonable level). I pulled over, got out and all was fine on the driver's side. I walked around to the passenger side to find a smoking back tire, totally blown! I guess I'm pretty lucky I didn't crash considering I was going the speed limit at the very least, and clearly not paying attention due to the music.I didn't get angry. I didn't curse as would be my usual routine. Instead, I decided it was awesome I hadn't had an accident, got out my phone, and proceeded to make some calls. Eventually, mom called me and said she was on her way. Turns out my dad was out of state to look at a piece of heavy equipment he was considering buying, so that meant someone else was going to have to change the tire. Now, I know what you're probably thinking, and yeah, I could likely change a tire if I had the right tools. Unfortunately, I didn't. My lug wrench or whatever was absent. Why? I haven't the slightest clue. The truck used to belong to my dad, so maybe he took it out and left it somewhere. Mom came along, and then my amazing younger cousin who had some tools and the muscle to loosen the lug nuts and get the spare on. It took forever, though. Whoever decided it a good idea to secure the spare underneath the truck the way it was is a total idiot. I mean seriously. It was so complicated that it took my cousin for hell and ever just to figure it out and free it! Oh well. He saved the day!
I would also like to note that the majority of people seem to suck. Besides a friend of the family who eventually turned around and came to check on me, no one passing by was interested in stopping to check on a chick who was sitting on her hood in the hot sun, obviously stuck there. :p Thank goodness it wasn't a real emergency!
On another note, Autumn Rain has been selected for publication!!! I've been waiting to hear about it for the longest time now, and tonight after I awoke, there was the email from professor Lucero! It'll be published in the 2011 edition of Kudzu, the college's literary magazine. Thanks again to everyone on here who helped me choose which poems to submit!
Now, I'm going to lie here and listen to it rain until I drift back off to sleep. :)
